Overview

Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes visitors on a wonderful cultural and physical journey through changing landscapes which takes them at a Temple high up in the truly impressive dry Tibetan style landscape above Jomsom. The trekkers follow the Kali Gandaki River’s meandering course gradually gaining altitude and visit lovely villages every day and they can see varieties of vegetation from terraced paddy fields to apple orchards, rhododendron forests and conifer forests.

They can see panoramic views of different mountains including Dhaulagiri Himal (8167m), Tukuche Himal (6920m), Nilgiri Himal (7041m) and the Annapurna range.

Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a pilgrimage route for Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims to the Temple of Lord Vishnu at Muktinath.

Detail Itinerary

1 Day

Arrival

Arrival in Kathmandu, NM representative will receive the visitors at TIA and transport to hotel in a private vehicle, O/N in a hotel.
2 Day

Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After the breakfast, the visitors will be guided for the sight-seen tour to the historical and cultural sites in Kathmandu including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath( the monkey temple) and the Buddhanath Stupa.

3 Day

Fly to Pokhara and drive to Nayapul, trek to Ulleri (2000m)

Upon the arrival to Pokhara, the trekkers will take a drive to Nayapul where they start trekking to Ulleri. The route is ascending along the bank of Bhurungdi Khola. Then, follows a trail along the upper edge of terraced fields through Hille to Tikedungha. Then, the trekkers climb a long, steep and stone staircase, which eventually leads to the village of Ulleri, O/N in local lodge.

4 Day

Trek to Ghorepani (2775m)

After the breakfast, the trekkers walk along a forest of the oak and rhododendron before they reach Ghorepani which means horse water, O/N in hotel.

5 Day

Trek to Tatopani (1190m)

The trekkers can go to Poon Hill to enjoy sunrise early in the morning and back to Ghorepani and they can trek Tatopani which has rhododendron forests, reach to Tatopani. The path is followed by ridge, steep way, suspension bridge and many worth-seeing places of natural beauty, O/N in local lodge.

6 Day

Trek to Ghasa (2000m), 5-6 hrs

The trekkers ascend gently up the Kali Gandaki Gorge towards the village of Dana, which is surrounded by orange groves. Just beyond the small hamlet of Rupse, a thundering waterfall cascades down beside the trail which enters a steepest and narrowest section of the gorge before reaching to layered stone path which leads to Ghasa, a quaint Thakali village, O/N in a local lodge.

7 Day

Trek to Larjung (2560m)

After the breakfast, the trekkers walk down towards Larjung passing forests of fir, cypress and juniper along the riverbank of Kali Gandaki. In few hours, they reach Larjung, a small town with tunnels, narrow alleyways and houses built in the traditional style.

8 Day

Trek to Jomsom (2713m)

After having breakfast, the trekkers walk wide valley of the Kali Gandaki, passing through Khobang and Tukuche. Then, they come across a stone gate that marks the entrance to Marpha where they can see many white-walled houses. Then, they head towards Jomsom, which has landscape of brown, yellow and grey contrasting with the white snowcapped peaks of Tilicho and Nilgiri.

9 Day

Trek to Muktinath (3710m)

After the breakfast, the trekkers will walk towards the vast gravel riverbed of the Kali Gandaki along with a stream and vegetation up to Chhancha Lhumba. Trekkers can take panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains when they ascend to Khingar (3200 m). The trekkers pass meadows and streams on the way up to Jharkot (3500 m). Similarly, they can see ruins of the Dzong and pristine villages of Purang and Changur on the way until they cross Ranipauwa which is ideal place to take rest. Then, they reach Muktinath were they can see temples and shrines. Pilgrims flock to the Buddhist Gompa and pagoda-style temple of Lord Vishnu in Muktinath.

10 Day

Trek to Jomsom (2713m)

After the breakfast, the trekkers move towards Jomsom taking majestic view of Nilgiri Himal. O/N in a local hotel.

11 Day

Fly to Pokhara and Fly to Kathmandu

After the breakfast, the trekkers can board an early morning flight to Pokhara from where trekkers can fly or drive to Kathmandu.

12 Day

Departure

After the breakfast, the visitors can fly back to their country or they can explore the natural beauty, cultural heritage and historical site in Kathmandu valley and around.
