Overview

Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the light of Asia. Buddha was born in Lumbini which lies in Rupandehi district. As per the new federal structure of Nepal which was introduced after the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal 2015, Lumbini lies in Province no 5. For those who are interested to learn about Buddhism, it’s better to com to Nepal where Buddha was born.

There are numerous monasteries and institutions where the visitors can learn more about Buddhism, meditation and where volunteers can help teaching monks. The visitors can visit Swoyambhunath (the monkey temple) and Boudhnath Stupa in Kathmandua and the birthplace in Lumbini. For those who want to go on a yoga retreat, or take a course in reiki, hatha yoga, massage and other healing techniques, there are several places to go to in Kathmandu and in Pokhara. The Nepal Vipassana Centre in Kathmandu offers ten-day and occasional shorter courses involving silent retreats, getting up at 4am every morning, not talking or making eye contact with anyone over the entire period, and not eating after midday.

Detail Itinerary

1 Day

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Reception in Kathmandu Airport and transportation to Hotel, O/N in Hotel with BB.

In case, the visitors arrive early, they can visit Boudhanath in Kathmandu. Boudhnath is the biggest stupa in the world and it is one of the world heritage sites in Nepal. It is considered that Boudhnath was built after 600 AD when the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo, converted to Buddhism. In terms of grace and purity, no other stupas in Nepal come close to Bodhnath. From its whitewashed dome to its gilded tower painted with all-seeing eyes of the Buddha, the monument is perfectly proportioned. Fortunately, the stupa did not suffer any damage during the 2015 earthquake. The stupa has been recently renovated and it is one of the most visited sites in Kathmandu valley. It is a must place to visit for those who have faith in Buddhism. Visitors can enjoy different activities like having different foods in the rooftops of different restaurants with majestic view of mountains, shopping Thanka, Tibetan painting and many more.

2 Day

Dhulikhel Sightseeing and visit to Namobuddha, 1684 m, (40 km from Kathmandu)

After breakfast, the visitors drive to Namobuddha via Dhulikhel. Namobuddha lies in Kavrepalchowk district, an adjoining district of Kathmandu valley. Namo Buddha is a peaceful place where visitors can spend a day or a night with panoramic views of mountain, forest, sunset and sunrise. Visitors, who like meditation, can practice it in the monastery and adjoining areas. They can also go for hiking from Namoboudha to Panauti. The hiking, which is downhill from Namobuddha, will take some 2.5 hours. Good hotels, resorts and local lodges are available in Namobuddha. Visitors can also trek from Banepa to Namo Buddha passing through Panauti and Sangkhu, O/N in a hotel in Namobuddha.

3 Day

Drive back to Kathmandu and Kathmandu sight-seen

There are many cultural, historical and religious sites to visit in the Kathmandu Valley including Boudhnath, Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square and many more, O/N in a hotel.

4 Day

Fly to Lumbini

After the breakfast, the visitors can fly to Lumbini. Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, is the pilgrimage of Buddhists around the world. It is rich in natural beauty and famous for archeological and historical study of Buddhism. Lumbini area is going to be upgraded as per the master plan. On reaching Lumbini, they can visit Ashok Pillar, Maya Devi Temple, Peace flame and different types of monasteries, O/N in a hotel.

5 Day

Fly back to Kathmandu

After the breakfast, visitors can fly to Kathmandu. They can take a rest in Kathmandu. If they have extra time, they can go for shopping of Nepali items like Pashmina, Thanka, antique items and many more, O/N in a hotel in Kathmandu.

6 Day

Departure

Visitors/trekkers can fly back to their countries or can extend their Nepal trip exploring worth-seeing places which are in abundance in Nepal.
