Overview

Mardi Himal trek is a new trekking route. It is better to spend three days above the tree line of Mardi Himal amid the close views of Machhapuchhare Himal (the Fishtail Mountain). Trekkers can take the views of sunrises with sun bursting into the tips of Machhapuchhare Himal and the Annapurna Himal.

The trekkers can spend two nights at high camp (3,800m) acclimatizing and they can walk further up the ridge until they can see into the glacial basin between Macchapuchhare and Annapurna where Annapurna base camp is located. The Mardi Himal trek gives trekkers with the most amazing sense of having been right up on the roof of the world amongst some of its highest mountains.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport (1350m)
Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (850m), 200km, 6 hrs drive
Day 03: Drive to Phedi and trek to Dhampus (1600m), 30 minutes drive and 3 hrs walking
Day 04: Trek from Dhampus to Forest Camp (2480m), 6 hrs walking
Day 05: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp (3150m), 5 hrs walking
Day 06: Low Camp to High Camp 3800m, 4 hrs walking
Day 07: High Camp to Siding Village 1280m, 5 to 6 hrs walking
Day 08: Trek from Siding Village to Pokhara, 3 hrs walking
Day 09: Fly or drive back to Kathmandu, flight 25 minutes or drive 200km/6hrs driving
Day 10: Final departure

Detail Itinerary

1 Day

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Reception in Kathmandu Airport and transportation to Hotel-O/N in Hotel with BB.
2 Day

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (850m), 200km, 6 hrs drive

After the breakfast, the trekkers will head to Pokhara in a private vehicle or in a tourist bus. Trekkers can enjoy the trip with see the views of mountains, rivers, waterfalls and jungle, farm terraces and villages on the way, O/N in hotel with BB.

3 Day

Drive to Phedi and trek to Dhampus (1600m), 30 minutes drive and 3 hrs walking

After the breakfast, the trekkers drive for half an hour to Phedi. Then, the trekking begins. They start with a steep climb up to Dhampus which has a spectacular and panoramic view of the Annapurna Himal, O/N in local lodge.

4 Day

Trek Dhampus to Forest Camp (2480m), 6 hrs

After the breakfast, the trekkers move towards the forest with different animals and birds, O/N in a local lodge.

5 Day

Trek Low Camp (3150m), 5 hrs walking

After having breakfast, the trekkers will go to the ridge through the forest towards Machhapuchhare. As they climb, there may be the chances of change in the weather and getting mosses and lichen on the way. The trekkers can enjoy the views of Himchuli, Annapurna South, and northerly close views of ‘Fishtail’, O/N in a local lodge.

6 Day

Trek to High Camp 3800m, 4 hrs walking

After the breakfast, the trekkers will head towards High Camp with breathtaking beauty of mountains on the way, O/N in a local lodge.

7 Day

Rest at high camp/optional walk to higher viewpoints

From this point, it is possible to walk further up the ridge to get even closer to the mountains, even looking into the icy valley containing Annapurna Base Camp. Trekkers can also see the view of Annapurna 1 from this camp. The route is initially quite steep and is less steep when the trekkers move further, O/N in local lodge in High Camp.

8 Day

High Camp to Siding Village 1280m, 5 to 6 hrs walking

After having breakfast, the trekkers will return back along with open ridge with the marvelous views of natural beauty including flora, fauna and the mountain up to Siding Village, O/N in local lodge.

9 Day

Trek to Pokhara, 3 hrs

After the breakfast, the trekkers walk some three hours from Siding to Pokhara. Trekkers can take a private vehicle after descending from the hill, O/N in a hotel in Pokhara.

10 Day

Fly/drive to Kathmandu

After the breakfast, the trekkers can take a flight to Kathmandu or they can drive to Kathmandu in private vehicle, O/N in a hotel in Kathmandu.

11 Day

Departure

After the breakfast, the visitors can fly back to their country or they can explore the natural beauty, cultural heritage and historical site in Kathmandu valley and around.
